NRS International submits UN Global Compact Communication on Progress Report 2016
NRS International has submitted its Communication on Progress (COP) to the United Nations Global Compact for the period February 2016 to February 2017. The Global Compact is a UN initiative that encourages businesses worldwide to adopt sustainable and socially responsible policies, and to report on their implementation through an annual COP.
NRS International’s COP 2016 report discusses who we are, describes our work towards the Global Compact’s ten principles, and details our commitments to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the World Humanitarian Summit. According to our self-assessment, our COP meets all minimum requirements and qualifies for the GC Active Level.
Making progress on corporate responsibility measures
We believe that sustainable and socially responsible business practice makes smart business. It underscores our commitment to the environment, our employees, and the communities where we work, and this year we continued to operate according to the Global Compact principles relating to human rights, labour, environmental and anti-corruption.
Our ongoing support to the Global Compact has been widely recognised, and we have been elected as Steering Committee members in the United Arab Emirates. We have also become co-chairs of the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles and Business for Peace Taskforce. By leading through example we aim to inspire other companies to incorporate the Global Compact principles into their operations.
Aiming for the Global Compact advanced level
We aim to improve policy implementation and increase transparency to achieve the GC Advanced Level by February 2018. This aims to create a higher standard for corporate sustainability performance and disclosure based on the Blueprint for Corporate Sustainability Leadership and the UN Global Compact Management Model.
