In the past few weeks we have all watched on as pandemic COVID-19 has swept across the globe with devastating consequence. One of the hardest hit countries, as witnessed by the global media coverage is Italy, with numbers of Coronavirus infected patients reaching over 70,000, as of today.
With hospitals pushed to the limits, another solution was needed to help triage, diagnose and treat potential patients.
One international organization that stepped up to deliver much needed relief to Italy was one of our US-based clients, Samaritan’s Purse.
Samaritan’s Purse is the first international organization to provide emergency medical relief to families impacted by the deadly COVID-19 outbreak in northern Italy. The international Christian relief organization deployed its Emergency Field Hospital and more than 60 disaster response specialists—including doctors, nurses, lab technicians, water and sanitation specialists, and other support staff—to set up outside of Milan, Italy, where the coronavirus pandemic has overwhelmed the local medical capacity. The 68-bed Emergency Field Hospital has a unique layout with specialized respiratory equipment to provide the highest level care to patients who are suffering from the virus.
Making up a vital component of the Emergency Field Hospital is our multipurpose Huggy tent, deployed as a field laboratory. We are proud to be able to support our clients by providing premium quality emergency shelters in times of crisis. These tents are fire retardant, waterproof, rotproof and UV-stabilized, with a rectangular frame that can also be used for schooling, storage or temporary shelter purposes.
Samaritan’s Purse continues to provide emergency relief and medical care for the affected populations, as well as meet the patients’ emotional and spiritual needs through ministry partners on the ground. Grazie Samaritan’s Purse!
