Multi-purpose tents serve as Emergency Field Hospitals
After a Category 5 Hurricane Dorian hit the Bahamas, local health facilities were left crippled and dysfunctional. As one of the first humanitarian respondents to the disaster, our client Samaritan’s Purse set up an Emergency Field Hospital to provide life-saving medical treatment to a trauma-stricken people. Our multipurpose Huggy tents, as well as a Legend 45 structure are deployed as part of this disaster relief operation.
According to the Samaritan’s Purse website; “the 40-bed hospital located in Freeport, Grand Bahama has the capacity to serve more than 100 patients per day with an emergency room, intensive care unit, pharmacy, and an operating room for up to 10 surgeries per day.” Till date, the hospital has treated more than 3700 patients and performed 57 surgeries.
Post-Disaster relief and emergency shelters must be of premium quality to survive difficult conditions. Our Huggy Tent series is designed to do just that. These tents are fire retardant, waterproof, rotproof and UV-stabilized, a rectangular frame that can also be used for schooling, storage or temporary shelter purposes. In the above photograph, our tents are seen being deployed as a a reception area where patients are checked-in before treatment as well as a canteen for patients and health personnel. Moreover, our Legend 45 tent can be seen as being used a diagnostic space as part of the medical facilities being offered in the Bahamas. This tent serves as a fit-for-purpose structure that allows creation of cabins for medical treatment. In addition, the accompanying shade net frame protects against wet, windy, hot and cold conditions, making it a perfect fit for post-disaster settings.
Samaritan’s Purse continues to provide emergency relief and medical care for the affected populations, as well as meet the patients’ emotional and spiritual needs through ministry partners on the ground.
